The Little Liebchen Girl: Sawyer sits up and other highlights in our world.

Sawyer turned 5 months last week on the 26th. We celebrated with an 8 hour drive back home from visiting my family in Harrison, Idaho. It was a lovely visit! One of my best, I think. My cousin Mikayla, who is 11 drove over with me and the kids and we had a lot of fun. She was a big help and loved on my kids tons, they enjoyed her very much as well! The weather was beautiful for the most part and I got to meet my precious, 6 week old nice Hadley for the first time, what a sweetie. We played with cousin Byron at the bounce house (so much fun, why doesn't Salem have one of these?!) and met our dear friend Dixie for lunch. There were s'mores around the campfire, swimming at the lake, ice cream trips to the small but delicious ice cream shop and all the usual enjoyments that come from visiting Grandma and Grandpa's.
Over 16 hours in the car total with two kids under two went surprising well. I have mastered the timed nursing/pumping/feeding schedule in the car and with the tri-cities stop, which is KEY. So, whats one more!? :-)
Sawyer had his first rice cereal and tried out the walker for the first time. He started pushing himself backward which is what I remember Ara doing at first too. He wasn't a huge fan of the eating food thing but, like anything else I guess it just takes practice.
Ara also had her first haircut! Hard to believe I hadn't given her one yet but her long strands in the back were just too straggly. I resisted the urge to cut bangs and get rid of the baby mullet and Boober bangs- can't wait until they grow! But for now she still looks so precious with her hair pulled back- bangs out of face.
Sawyer also had his first boat ride (well second if your count in utero :-))) He was a champ. Sister on the other hand still HATES her life jacket. Something she just needs to get over. But she loves swimming in the COLD water. Both in Idaho and on the boat in Detroit Lake. (Thanks Brad and Amy!)
Now onto to sisters 2nd birthday this Friday at the beach!! Oh, what fun. We can't wait!
